We have public schools that parents can rely on and our taxes are used to pay for them. The State should not be responsible to pay additionally for any other private school a family might CHOOSE to send their child to. The additional, pricy fees for private schooling only robs the children in the public schools and burdens the state budget
Here’s what I see coming down the pike - a collision. Moyle is hellbent on handing out tax refunds like candy, mostly to corporations and the wealthy. If the voucher tax credit scheme passes, then that’s even less revenue for the state coffers. What follows after that will be the coup de grace to Medicaid Expansion because by that time, the state really won’t be able to sustain it. It’ll be a win for the wealthy and a double screwing for the middle- class taxpayer. When they finally have to raise taxes to cover the cost of the voucher scheme, it’ll be a triple screwing for us. Pretty slick, right?
That’s exactly what I’m anticipating as well! Moyle is killing two birds with one stone by jacking up tax cuts TRIPLED from what Little is asking for. He will then announce that there’s just not enough money left in the budget for Medicaid expansion so he will try to repeal the whole thing. He’s been trying to repeal it ever since Idaho citizens overwhelmingly voted for it. I believe if the same vote was taken again today the results would still show overwhelming support.
I think so too. But this time, we may have to fight harder. People who see dollar signs may not be tuning into the whole scenario that is going to play out.
What really torches my cookies is how Moyle thinks that the poor folks who are only going to get $26 are going to look at it as some kind of generous gift. Does he really think people are that stupid? My husband and I are going to get a whopping $248. Not even enough for a single truck payment. So now we’re going to get an insult on top of a screwing. Aarrrggggh!
We’ve got to keep fighting these *#@*)s again and again…
Great editorial by esteemed, highly qualified Idahoans! Thank you for your assessment of HB 93. This bill is not good for Idaho. Our public districts and charters can pass all of the Governor's criteria being Fair, Responsible, Transparent, and Accountable. Thank you for speaking out on this critical issue.
Last evening I sent a brief thank you email to everyone in the House who voted “no” on HB93. I immediately received “thank you” replies, some folks taking a few minutes to respond in more depth and others mentioning that they don’t get a lot of thank you notes so they appreciated this one. My point is that Moyles et al aren’t attempting to solve the problems of Idahoans and those folks at the Capitol have to be ten times more aggravated than I am as they watch SSDD. Therefore I am committing to develop these messages of thanks in addition to my written testimony and phone calls before every vote.

That’s a great idea! I will start too. Was that a committee vote on HB93?
